Stamp Show Finds And Fun

Last month was busy, busy, busy! Cub Scout day camp, a quick getaway to Erie, and then Cub Scout overnight camp. It was, mostly, fun times. It was also rainy, challenging, caused a bit of homesickness for all of us, and when we were home I felt like the laundry was never ending!!! One last time away before summer winds down and school starts, but we're staying at my mom's so it's almost like home and a washer and dryer are included in the accomodations :)

I did manage to steal away one evening to recharge with some girlfriends and attended the Stamp Scrap Art Tour's Pittsburgh stop. We had a blast at the Make and Take and picked up some cute stamp sets :)

Repeat Impressions Stamps

The stamp set I used on these cards is from Repeat Impressions. I purchased the uncut, unmounted, stamp sheet....lots of stamps for a great price!
Repeat Impressions, Plate 9700 Contain Yourself Series
I had such fun playing with this set and am entering my first card challenge with the cards I made using the contain yourself series at thehousethatstampsbuilt.com (Repeat Impressions DCC730 ~ Sparkle, Glitter, or Bling!) I did some watercoloring using waterbased markers, a (cheapy) watercolor set, metallic watercolors and tried out some alcohol markers. I used some of my vintage paper and ribbon stash for backgrounds and embellishments. I did some allover stamping for another. Of course I had to use some glitter and the metallic watercolors for a little "bling." I think they turned out pretty darn cute if I do say so myself ;)

I did have a mission prior to leaving for the stamp show.....masculine images. My husband has suggested that I make some cards that aren't so "girly." I'm hoping if they are "boy-ee" enough I can still put some glitter on though ;)

Mission accomplished! The Repeat Impressions set will work well. It will be easy to mix and match the stamps for tons of versatility.

Rubber Cottage Stamps

I immediately knew this vintage pickup truck image from Rubber Cottage Stamps needed to make an appearance on some cards soon too :) They have some great vintage image stamps!

Dare 2 B Artzy Stamps

The cute little owl set I scored from from Dare 2 B Artzy will make a nice addition too.

They had such a great variety of owls and hot air balloon stamps sets that I had a hard time choosing. Fortunately my friend bought a few too, just in case I need to change it up ;)

Three hours of crafty fun, a quick dinner beforehand, and great company to boot?! Oh yeah, it made for a great little escape :)

What are your favorite stamp/craft getaway ideas? Do you stay local or make it a weekend trip?
