Angelfood Pineapple Cake For the birds |
Guess I could have shown a pic with birds eating it, huh? Well they were in the upper branches patiently waiting for me to get just the right angle ;)
Seriously though, what's not to love about a super easy recipe gone terribly wrong then slathered in peanutbutter and coated with birdseed?!
It all started with the best of intentions, a box of angel food cake mix, and a can of pineapple. Sounded great! It was easy! A light and refreshing dessert to die for!
Ummm......
It didn't turn out quite as expected :( It was just a teensy bit too thin, flat, heavy, well you get the picture......
I've seen the recipe all over Pinterest, and it seems that a bundt pan or angel food cake pan might have helped? Maybe it was the rainy, humid weather? It might have been mixed a little past the fluffy stage?
Regardless, my amazing brother's efforts were appreciated, especially by the birds ;)
How To Make Your Own Failed Cake Suet Feeder
Cut the cake into suet cake holder size, layer on some peanutbutter, press in some birdseed (ours was thin enough to press 2 layers together - you're very welcome tweety), close it inside your suet holder, and voilà.....
Your feast is ready for your favorite feathered friends!!! Bonus, it didn't go to waste. My mom would have made us eat it otherwise. She's a stickler about wasting food, but she wasn't eager to eat it either ;)
Do you have any rescued recipe ideas? I'd love for you to share them in the comments below.
Thanks for stopping by,
Terri
