Spring Bonnet Wreath

I'm loving this easy and inexpensive way to infuse some springtime into my home. The bonnet, flowers and butterflies all came from the dollar store. It's not a traditional wreath, but I think it just screams SPRING! It works up quickly and would make a great gift too.

Spring has been mighty slow coming to our area. We had some teasers. The sun was warm and lifted spirits and then it snowed again. Then a few more times after spring was supposedly sprung.

Don't get me wrong, I love winter. Snuggling up in cozy jammies and fluffy blankets, enjoying foods that just taste better when there's a chill in the air. I'm good now though. It was fun and I'm ready to move on.

I'm craving color....flowers.....birds and butterflies! My daffodil shoots are coming up. I've seen some crocuses poking through and I'm hopeful :) The stores are filled with spring right now and when I saw this sweet pink bonnet I couldn't help but smile. (Partly because it was only $1 and I had an idea)

Right now it seems if I want some color I'm going to have to put it there myself. I grabbed a hat, some of the brightest flowers I could find, and some butterflies just because. Even better, I found them all at the dollar store so this little cutie cost me $6 and was ready to hang in about a 1/2 hour!!

What You'll Need:

  • Wide brimmed hat
  • 3-4 bunches of flowers
  • 3 butterflies
  • Ribbon for hanging
  • Scissors
  • Hot glue gun

How To:

Remove the flower heads from stems and cut off the bottoms so they're almost flat. Be careful to leave a little so your posies stay together.

If you're lucky and your hat has a band, you can use that for hanging your hat. Otherwise, use a coordinating ribbon or cord to make a loop and hot glue it to the underside of the hat brim.

Hot glue your flowers around the hat, being sure not to leave empty spaces. Glue on your butterflies and you're done! Almost instant gratification :)
